Waynesville Middle School TIGERS (LIONS) Program

The Waynesville team (renamed TIGERS to match their school mascot) has taken on a number of projects, including the development of an online guide to the community and an inventory of the local trees. The community guide is a particularly important service since Waynesville sees many military families moving in each year when they are assigned to Fort Leonard Wood. Their initial efforts have been well recognized within the military community, which has motivated the TIGERS to create an even better site this year with advanced uses of GIS. They also plan to extend their environmental modeling programs past urban forestry in the coming year.

In addition to these community-focused projects, team members were proud to be the first from their school ever to advance to the state level Science Olympiad, and have participated in a number of career-awareness programs at the Missouri University for Science and Technology.
