Deanna’s Farewell to LREC

Hello everyone! Many of you may not know that I will be leaving LREC in January to start a new life adventure. After several years of searching, my husband (Guy) and I have decided to move to Ithaca, NY. It has been a dream of ours to move closer to Guy’s family in New England, move to a cooler climate and get some land. At this point we haven’t found our forever home, but have rented a cute little farmhouse on 60 acres just outside of Ithaca and are looking forward to starting our new life in this amazing community.

Leaving LREC is difficult for me, and I want every one of you to know it has been a wonderful experience working at LREC these last nine years. I’ve met and worked with so many incredible and inspiring staff, volunteers, interns, teachers and students. I have laughed and cried and celebrated and mourned; we’ve played and disagreed and even fought, which is why leaving is so hard – you are all like my family. You all have contributed to making me a more effective educator and ecologist and enriched my life in immeasurable ways. I will always remember my time at LREC with great fondness and look forward to visiting from time to time to soak up a little bit of the amazing work that is happening here.

Carry on you lovely, crazy, passionate people. I love you all!!!

Deanna
